Description

This tourist loop is a walk that passes through the main meadows of Alpe Vedèrna, starting and finishing at the most iconic one: Pian Grant. The hike starts in front of the hut of Rifugio Vedèrna (1,330 m asl), usually open from mid-June to October. It is possible to get to the Rifugio on foot from Imèr, climbing the old military mule track that leads to Prati Vedèrna, or by car along the gravel road of about ten kilometers that starts near the Schenèr dam, in the hamlet of Pontét, also in the territory of the Municipality of Imèr. The road is safely passable by car, but it is not tested. During the weekends of the summer months, it is also possible to drive towards Alpe Vedèrna from the village of Imèr, taking the driveway directly from Val Noana.

From Rifugio Vedèrna, the walk begins by following the path of the Signpost No. 736, which climbs through the forest toward S. The trail is an excellent and well-marked shortcut that allows you to reach the farm of Malga Agneròla (1,548 m asl) fairly quickly, avoiding the longer and more tedious road (“Strada Forestale Agnerola”). From Malga Agneròla (1,543 m asl), the route continues on the flat gravel road “Col Marés” which, crossing meadows, in about 2 km leads to the top of the hill of Col Marés (1,540 m asl).

From Col Marés you can have one of the most beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, among which soar in the distance the magnificent summits of the Pala Group / Pale di San Martino (Dolomites), Cima Folga, the Massif of Cima d’Asta and the closer summit of Monte Pavione (Vette Feltrine). On Col Marés, his favorite spot, there is a small circular monument dedicated to Luca Corso, a young man from Imèr who tragically died in a car accident in 2005.

From the top of the hill, the walk continues by going back 100m to descend on the path from the little hut. The beginning of this section is not clear, but it is enough to descend the meadow of the small valley and, once in the woods, the trail will appear obvious and you will not get lost. The trail descends for about 1.5 km, crossing the meadows of Val Avedón and reaching the bed of Rio Vedèrna, where it continues following the course of the stream until it reaches the crossroads with the gravel road “Pian de le Vederne” (Signpost No. 733). From the junction, the itinerary continues following, on the left, the road that shortly leads back to the location of Le Casere on the wide meadow of Pian Grant, from which it will be sufficient to follow the road at the edge of the meadow until returning to Rifugio Vedèrna.
